Lalit Vachani

Lalit Vachani is a documentary filmmaker, producer and video editor, with a preference for political ethnography. He is Director of the New Delhi based Wide Eye film.
His work includes the award-winning films – In Search of Gandhi and The Salt Stories, and the critically acclaimed documentaries on the RSS and Hindu nationalism: The Boy in the Branch, and its sequel, The Men in the Tree.
His documentaries have been widely screened at academic centers, universities and film festivals. Lalit Vachani teaches courses on the political documentary film, Hindu nationalism, media and politics, and documentary theory and production at the Centre for Modern Indian Studies (CeMIS) at the University of Göttingen.

Lalit Vachani ist Dokumentarfilmer, Produzent und Cutter mit einer Vorliebe für politische Ethnographie. Er ist Regisseur der in Neu Delhi ansässigen Produktionsfirma Wide Eye Film. Zu seinen Arbeiten gehören die preisgekrönten Filme ‘In Search of Gandhi‘, ‚The Salt Stories’ und die von der Kritik gefeierten Dokumentationen über den RSS- und Hindu-Nationalismus ‘The Boy in the Branch‘ sowie dessen Fortsetzung ‘The Men in the Tree’. Seine Dokumentarfilme wurden an akademischen Zentren, Universitäten und auf Filmfestivals gezeigt.
Lalit Vachani unterrichtet Kurse zu den Themen politischer Dokumentarfilm, hinduistischer Nationalismus, Medien und Politik sowie Dokumentarfilm und Produktion am Centre for Modern Indian Studies (CeMIS) der Universität Göttingen.

Oliver Becker

Oliver Becker is a cultural anthropologist, filmmaker and founder of weTellmedia, a film- and media production company for science, education and cultural institutions.
His focus of research are the fields of visual anthropology and new (digital) formats of knowledge transfer. He worked severals years as research assistant for documentary filmmaking at the Department for Cultural Anthropology/European Ethnology and the Centre for Modern Indian Studies at the University of Göttingen.
Oliver Becker has also been working as a music journalist for different print and online media. His critically acclaimed documentary „Kingston Crossroads“ has been screened widely and has won international awards.

Oliver Becker ist Ethnologe, freischaffender Filmemacher und Gründer von weTellmedia, einer Film- und Medienagentur für Forschungs-, Bildungs- und Kultureinrichtungen.
Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind visuelle Anthropologie und neue (digitale) Formate der Wissensvermittlung. Er arbeitete mehrere Jahre als wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft für Dokumentarfilm am Institut für Kulturanthropologie/Europäische Ethnologie und am Centre for Modern Indian Studies der Georg-August-Universität Göttingen.
Neben seinem Studium hat Oliver Becker für unterschiedliche Print- und Digitalmedien musikjournalistisch gearbeitet. Sein Dokumentarfilm Kingston Crossroads“ wurde international vorgeführt und mehrfach ausgezeichnet.
